Question about Sea Emporer lore
Ok, so in the game its presumed that the sea emperors died because their food went extinct due to the kharaa bacterium. And at the end of the game Kharaa is cured by letting the Emperors free and them existing on the planer. So why didn't their existence before automatically fight the virus?

Good question. I think the enzyme adaptation is probably one that took some time to develop, possibly too much time to save the rest of the emperors. (Not to mention everybody else -- one PDA says that the kharaa outbreak killed like 90% of the life on 4546B.)

On the other hand, we know very little about what's in the Void. Adult sea emperors could easily survive out there.

One possibility is that the enzyme that the Emperor and her offspring produce is actually some kind of genetic mutation specific to her (and them, by virtue of being her offspring) that was not widely present among the species as a whole (similar to how some variations of the sickle-cell disease gene can provide resistance to malaria, for instance).
