Vampirism
I feel as if the vampirism is a bit underwhelming at the start, because in exchange for 2 companions you get one companion and basically swap your race for a new perk tree.

I feel as if there should at least be one vampire perk you get from the start, so it feels like you sacrificed those companions for something more significant. That said, I understand this choice will matter narratively later on, but at the start it ends up feeling and making vampires seem very insignificant.

I guess all I can say is that Vampirism does not feel like it is worth losing a companion for in terms of power, so it makes it feel underwhelming.

Hi Seraph,

There are several ways it can go in terms of who you lose or gain in this encounter, but the trade isn't 2 to 1. It's much worse. Based on the path you took in EA, you can actually lose up to 5 companions and gain up to 2, one of whom will hate you. That's without taking into account future narrative.

In gameplay terms, other than the vampire physiology perk that you get for free and the ability to feed on NPCs and turn them into thralls, you are still too young to have any significant power difference from your former self.

So, whether the promise of power and immortality is worth this cost, or if your character even cares about this cost, are questions you will have the chance to role-play later on. It's still very early in terms of narrative. The full spectrum of the perks/actions you gain as a vampire aren't there yet either, but they will be a significantly longer tree to potentially invest in than that of normal species.

To fully see what you lost or what you've gained is something we can't yet know. Unfortunately, that's all I can reveal at this point. It's a different fate altogether.

Out of curiosity, who's the other character besides Reyla? I've tried going into the vampire route a few different ways, but I've never had anyone but her afterwards, barring the new stuff in the beta.

In Taymoor ruins: it's extremely hard, but possible, to turn Sheela to a vampire. (If your MC can romance her, and has good influence with her.)
In the beta build you can also recruit: Tricks, Brawn & turn Marie. Tricks & Brawn are thralls, so they won't roll dices or have any dialogue, but you can level them up normally to assist in combat situations.

Very interesting. That would explain why I've never seen it, as I've never played a character that was compatible with Sheela. I'm guessing there's similar trickery involved with keeping Ludo, since I've never been able to keep him alive, but he's clearly a companion.
I managed to get Sheela into the Vampire run but she did not recieve any perks? She has Vampire Physiology to be trained but not selected, not sure if that is intended.

To add to this, when I bring Sheela to the conversation in the manor after securing it for reyla she is there but the dialouge that triggers is for a previous section when you engage with Ludo.

Thanks! Thinking about it, her survival isn’t fully implemented yet. I had forgotten this particular outcome, but I’ll amend it in the next patch.

Glad to help, really like this game so far. Should I keep a save before turning her or might that fix be retroactive? Also I don't hope me spamming this singular threads is annoying but I did not find a collection thread for minor bugs.

No worries! I always read everything, even if I can’t always reply. It’s great to hear all the feedback and issues—some things may already be planned, but others might have slipped my mind or weren’t on my radar.

The fix to her dialogue will be retroactive. I’ll add a new branch that accounts for her missing whereabouts, like the manor. However, she’ll only gain her special perks at the moment she turns.

.

Thanks! Will then speed run a fresh start to get my vampire team complete!
