5-2 is not beatable without guessing.
on the -3- column there is an island in the middle with 5 hexs and 3 are on that column however the 2 extra hexs on the right of those 3 are filled in and there is no way of knowing which of those 3 hexs is the last one because the other 2 hexs on that column are already separated from that island meaning any of them can be the right one...

Nothing in the game (or any of the Hexcells games) requires guessing. Make sure you didn't prematurely gray out some other clue. If you're near the end of the puzzle, look at how many blue cells are remaining. Worst case, provide a screenshot and we'll tell you what you missed.

EDIT: I just reinstalled and started that level, and I ended up solving the -3- column before most of the rest of the puzzle, so idk. You understand what -3- means, right? Because the first two blues I found there make that detail very relevant and immediately gave me the third one.

Column and diagonal clues ignore physical gaps in the board and only care about constituent cells. This was already demonstrated in 3-2 when they were first introduced.

The third cell up in that column is black.

From my experience it was the exact opposite but if that is the case then I just totally missed it

I am at 5-3 now. Till 5-2, every level is beatable without guessing. Not sure about 5-3 and next levels yet.

I just did 5-2 for the first time, and it did not require guessing.

Just noticed this like 5 months later, but just in case. 6-4 requires no guessing. The first Hexcells game isn't even particularly difficult compared to the other two installments which also require no guessing.

Post a screenshot where you're stuck and we'll gladly help you find the next step, but don't walk into a forum full of people who have done exactly that puzzle and far worse ones without guessing and tell us it's impossible.
