Did I miss something ? How do we solve the single Hex in the center?

Nowhere in the game says that as a rule.

It seems that the game wants you to guess that you have to use the Remainig as a tool more thatn just a Status

"Not sure about the rules" doesn't mean not knowing the (basic) rules. No need to be rude.
Plus, the "remaining" indicator isn't that obvious respectively it's never mentioned that it can be part of the logic.
