I need a clue
I have stared at this one for an hour without seeing how to proceed through logic alone. What am I missing?

And why does this puzzle have a {5} in a hex? A hex can't have 5 blue cells around it without them automatically being consecutive, so why not just put 5 instead of {5}?

Take a look at the bottom left. Where there is a 2 and some 1s under it. You can know one of the cells for that 2 because of the 1 just under it.

After that, take a look at the column number for that area.

I see now. I wasn't taking into account the 1 at the top of the column.

There are 3 orange hexes surrounding the 2, and there is no way of knowing which one of those is empty without using the info at the top of the column, is there? That is to say, no matter which of the 2 orange ones around the 2 that I fill with blue, there is no contradiction with any of the 1's underneath.

But by noticing that there is a 1 atop the left column, then I know that the 2 blues cannot be in the same column to the left of the 2, which means that the hex to the right of the 2 must be blue.

Thank you kindly for the clue, jxt09.

Actually, you can know that the hex to the top left of the 2 has to be blue because if it isn't and the other 2 are blue then that 1 below would have 2 hexes around it instead of one.

When I get stumped I start thinking like that, if this one is blue would that work or not. And I keep going until I find a spot where it won't work.

You're absolutely right, I totally missed that contradiction. I have been trying this line of thinking when I get stuck and I missed both that AND the contradiction with the 1 at the top of the column. Ugh. More practice needed. :)

Thanks for the correction!

Remember you can make 1 mistake and still be perfect!

As long as you only make that mistake in your head and don't click it :)
