I don't see a video or description about it, and it looks interesting, so what do you do in this game?

Something like minesweeper, but with nice music and sounds effects.

While the most basic mechanics are similar to minesweeper the levels are created in such a way that you are never required to make a guess. Also in later sets of levels there are introduced other mechanics like that there has to be a certain number of colored hexes in a line or that certain number of them has to be connected to each other.

Soo... should I get this game and Hexcells Plus?

So basically it takes all of the difficulty out of Minesweeper and turns it into something like Sudoku?

Yeah. You aren't blown up if you do something wrong it just gets checked off as a mistake.
I'd rather get blown up and try again. :dealwithit:

Definitely, yes.

It is only 1 to 2 hours long, however.

But it is only $5 for both Hexcells and Hexcells Plus.

Difficulty has nothing to do with unfairness. Minesweeper is a dumb design, any puzzle-game that requires you to make a guess is flawed.

My boyfriend manages to guess the color under the hexes by rolling the mouse over them. It kind of work really good, even though sometimes he misses. I think that it is kind of disappointing that you can do that, even though i really love this game (reminds so much of picross)

I doubt that. This is a computer game; the game will not accidentally reveal such information and will only do what it is programmed to do.

However, I do put the mouse on a hex, and then double check that I what I want to do is correct, and think about whether I need to click left or right. Maybe something like that gets mistaken as "guessing the color by putting the mousepointer on it".

No no really, in the middle of nowhere (so no possibility of guessing with the information around) he got 11 hexes right out of 12. I know that sounds impossible, I thought he was just lucky at first. I tried myself but i cannot see the difference between the blue and grey ones

That's because there is none. And I "guessed" every single hex in the game correctly on the first try.

Come to think of it, the puzzles are NOT randomized. So if he doesn't have the required information on screen at the time, but opens the correct hexes anyway, he's probably done it before and remembers what the board looks like. Not sure how it easy it is to memorize these boards, though.

I don't care if you trust me or not, he just did the very first level, and now he can guess the hexes on Hexcells Plus, the 4th world (which means that he does not even understand what the numbers outside the hexes mean and what the numbers inside blue cells mean also).
Nevermind, it's still a good game !

Not sure if you guys are aware of this but Minesweeper is 99.9% logic and 00.1% guessing. That means that if you understand the rules you will win most of the times.

An accurate way to describe this game is that it has its roots on minesweeper but also has nonograms and kakuros rules/mechanics. (Those are type of games I recomend by the way)
