Murder Miners refuses to run
so my friend got me this game as a gift and i'd like to be able to play it with him however it refuses to run...at all. i have windows 8 and my specs are plenty up to par. everytime i try to start it the steam box appears "murder miners is preparing to launch" and then dissapears after about a second and a half. i would really like it if my friend didn't waste his money. any ideas? is this at all common?

This error is often caused by corruption in your extracted game files, and can occur with any steam game, really. Its happened to me with a few games.

-Completely exit Steam
-Right-click on the shortcut which you use to launch Steam
-Select "Run as Administrator"
-From the Library section, right-click on the game and select Properties from the menu.
-Select the Local files tab and click Verify integrity of game cache.
-Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
-Once the process is completed, the Check Window will automatically exit.

If the problem persists be sure your drivers are up to date: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6416-EYDH-0477
and make sure all background applications are closed.

Did you cancel any installation options when installing murderminers? its possible that you need to re-run those secondary installers.

If all else fails just type in the launch option forcegraphics

Hey RockGod, I'm really sorry you're experiencing this problem with my game. I remember I had the similar problem getting Deus Ex to launch. What worked for me is disabling the integrated GPU (Most gamers don't need it at all as we use separate graphics cards).

1. Open windows explorer, right click on 'My Computer' and click 'Properties'.
2. Click on 'Device Manager' and look under 'Display Adapters'.
3. Disable the option that isn't your main GPU (for me it was Intel HD Graphics 4600).

Here's the full thread that solved it for me: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/app/28050/discussions/0/864973123824190120/

Please let me know if this fixes the problem,
-Ty

well, i tried that and it did not work. it's not a crash notification that im getting. it just doesn't run. the little box for steam pops stating "murder miners preparing to launch" then does nothing. the box goes away and nothing starts up. no notifications or anything. i tried deleting then re-installing, i tried verifying, i tried forcegraphics, i tried disabling the thing that wasn't my GPU. none of it worked. thanks for trying to help anyway. if you can think of any other ways to fix it, let me know please and thank you.

The same is happening to me. Every time i try to open it doesn't do anything other than say, on my friends list, "In game", but then after about 2 seconds it will change it back to saying, "online" and it is very frustrating because i really wanted to play the game but cannot. I tried every thing that you guys tried suggested but it didn't work for me either.

yep, exactly the same. it's annoying the hell out of me.

The same happened to me. How I fixed this was by going into the game folder -> _CommonRedist->XNA and install the XNA framework. This fixes it and the game runs fine through steam.
