FaceRig on Nvidia Optimus laptops: Turn Optimus ON for it!
If you have an Nvidia Optimus laptop (as I do), *TURN IT ON* for FaceRig. It benefits from the extra 3D capability.

Any idea on the Linux version, or are we looking for a V4L2 "fake" camera?

Linux won't be coming until later.

The current plan is to wait until the Windows version is up and running as fully planned, then move on to Mac as that is currently the version that the most people are asking for. When Linux comes depends entirely on how much of the community is asking for it compared to any other planned platform, but as is, it doesn't have as many people asking for it as the Mac crowd, so it doesn't make sense to support it over them.

As long as you're building it against OpenGL, and you abstracted the GUI, you should be good.

You know... an intresting idea. Since the Raspberry Pi does OpenGL ES and has a native camera, I wonder how hard it would be to port to the Pi. This would be after Mac and Linux, of course.

We really need a thumbs up button. The idea itself might not be feasible, but just thinking about it did make me laugh :D

It's definitely one of those ideas that's so stupid that it might just work. Granted, I can see dropping the render and capture resolution to 720p, but if it works, we'll just need Ethernet webcam drivers.:fhappy:

One other problem is that facerig will probably have to be done after the mobile version, so we can run the mobile version on it (else we will probably toast the poor bugger)

That's true. Minecraft's Pi Edition is based on the Pocket Edition, which is a bit cut down and recoded for mobile.
