Kinect
Hi Guys not sure if this is mention before.
Just looking at this wonderful software and i thought to myself.
Would Microsoft Kinect(coming to PC) be a better camera/motion sensor to make this software shines brighter.......just my opinion...what do you guys think

Yes, no, kinda. Kinect V2 is out, already, for consumer use. It is 200 dollars, which is too high to see any real adoption. Also rebuilding FaceRig to use the 3D mapping of the Kinect would make porting it to non-microsoft platforms almost impossible. Eventually the devs want to bring it to mobile and non-windows OSs.

MS is shooting themselves in the Kinect-Foot with their pricing. They are thinking corporate and not consumer, which is why people are having issues seeing the Kinect as anything but an over priced toy. This coming from a fellow using a 360 Kinect rigged up to his Mac/Windows box as the camera for FaceRig.

I have been using the 360 Kinect as regular webcam with OpenNI 2 Virtual Webcam, works quite well like any other webcam, only advantage you might get would be to use IR in dark rooms which works quite well actually, if not better than colour.
But basicly any webcam feed would work. And kinect beeing a gorified toy for now.

Well actually we did briefly have an experimental hybrid sensor setup going on way back where we would use the kinect for windows initialized in the steated position for the shoulders/arms , and image based tracking the face and it was rather neat :). It may be interesting for folks who want to have shoulder motion too :). We'll see :)
