We intended to make it an Early Access, but unfortunately this status is not available for Software on Steam, only for Games. We discussed this with the Steam Developers Support and the only option to have an Early Access was to make a Pre-Order with Beta access.
In the Steam app, hover the mouse over "Library" and pick "Software" instead of "Games". FaceRig will be listed there, because it isn't a game.
The EULA kinda confused me on this point.
Yes, the "beta-licence" will automatically upgrade to a "1.0-version-licence" at no added cost, meaning that you bought FaceRig cheaper and can play with it sooner, although there might be some problems here and there (that's what the forums are for)
(FYI: I'm not part of the dev-team, statement can only be taken as guidance and is based on hear-say / own intuition and Holotech studios is not responsible for mistakes I make unless this statement is confirmed by a member of the development team)
We need to do it this way because Valve does not have the "early access" program enabled for software, only for games.
So essentially pre-order with instant Beta Access is the equivalent of "early access", and like on "early access" once you commit to ordering it , you will receive the early version now, and the finalized version too when it becomes available:).
