Linux support?
Is it going to be coming once you have a stable Windows version running? It would really be appreciated.

Yes, linux is planned but as soon as Windows is stable, there will be a poll on what system they should persue next. As it seems now though, there will be a toss between Mac and Linux and the mobile (and possible others) will come after those 2.

Holotech has a philosophy of first making sure one system is complete before moving on to the next, to leave people hanging with a broken build for as short as possible, instead of making it all barely workable for everyone and taking long on updates on each system.

That is a good work ethic. As I said in my post; when the windows build is stable. I will unfortunately have to wait until the plans for the Linux build are announced before I can make the decision to purchase it, but thank you for the swift response.

One thing I do want to add (forgot about that in the previous post) is that some people did get it to work on Wine. Of course not directly connecting a webcam, but either with recorded clips or through a stream (streaming from the linux, picking it up on the wine) it is still usable. And there are always the poser options, to make silly faces.

Add me in for Linux also. Still looking over this site to see if I can help getting Linux support along....

Update: I found the root of the real FaceRig steam store discussion and there is a few pinned posts with good info, like linux support. :-)

Right now we are focusing on developing FaceRig for mobiles (iOS and Android), then Mac is on our development plan, after that we will see about a Linux version. This was decided by a community poll, when asking what version would be preferred first.

Seeing that FaceRig takes up 30% of my CPU (AMD FX-9590 5.5ghz), I wonder how that will work out. Will you be using preset models on mobile FaceRig? Or will it be possible to import models from the steam workshop?

Steam (to the extent of my knowledge) does not have any mobile support right now (outside of the mobile app, which doesn't act as a Steam client for games). So at least for the time being, it wouldn't be possible to use Steam Workshop content on a mobile release of FaceRig.

@Smug, keep in mind you are on windows. It will be much more efficient in a *Nix OS. Windows is actually really bad at graphics. In most cases a windows program will actually perform better in WINE (if it works); than it does natively. That alone is enough for me to never use it again. However, given a long enough time period it won't matter. Linux has won. :) I know I am preaching to the choir here.

Too bad, I guess I am lowest priority. :) Its ok, people are still unaware that windows is a dead product. They will soon enough. Statistics don't lie...

When you decide to work on the Linux (aka SteamOS [btw steam has more users and ps4 or live]) project let me know and I will consider a sizeable donation.

I guess I will see you guys until then.

Thanks,
Matt

Chiming in for Linux support; I really hope to see it and won't be able to even try the software without it!
