New Idea for your tech
Hello, I have been using and loving FaceRig for a while now. Thank you very much for this awesome software and for all the hard work you have put into making it so great.

Today, while I was captioning videos, I found myself having to break yet again from typing
to correct a typo earlier in that line. As i was bemoaning to myself the time lost having to either reach for the mouse to reposition the cursor and then go back to typing or, alternately hold down the left arrow key until it gets to the typo. I thought to myself that it would be perfect if i could press a prebound key that would activate an eye-tracking program that would allow me to look where i want the cursor to go and simply release the prebound key when i have the cursor in place. This would likely result in more productivity for me, andmore productivity means both more money and more time for me to play games dressed in my Kingly Dragon dracsona (persona for dragons?).

Well, the first people i thought of when i thought about who would have the eye tracking software groundwork laid was you brilliant folks here at FaceRig. Could someone knowledgeable about these things, comment on the possibility of something such as what i have described? I know you all are busy making FaceRig even more amazing than it already is, but if you wanted to put this idea in the pipeline for future projects or if you knew some other capable software designers that might be interested in creating such a program, I would be very grateful.

Heck, you might even just create the next computer interface otpion to replace the mouse.

Hi Matt,

This is indeed an interesting suggestion, however right now we have other priorities that we need to attend to as we are still a small indie company. Thanks for your feedback and support :)

There's also the legal/licensing aspect. As you know the face tracking technology used in FaceRig is externally licensed, and the condition in which is licensed are pretty specific to be able to drive the price down, otherwise we wouldn't be able to offer the program at a low price. Normally these kind of face tracking libraries are being licensed for the cost of many thousands of dollars each year.

The use case where you use the tracking info to control a computer is different than animating an avatar .

We could try and do that that with other face tracking SDK's, such as the one from Intel Realsense, that is available for free, but you will need the RealSense special camera

So, it sounds like you are saying that i should either wait until someone creates this in about 50 years or so or figure out a way to create it myself. I appreciate the feedback and info regarding the licensing and framework of the software. You guys rock. Now, i'm off to learn whatever the newest version of C+++++++ is.
