push to talk for voice lip sync
I have noticed that there is not only face lip sync but voice lip sync too. can you make a push to talk option? It would be simple (well the idea is simple) face lip sync would still happen but voice lip sync would not unless your holding a button, if you wanted you could make a toggle on and toggle of option too.

I all ways use push to talk when doing any thing with my microphone so the sound of my keybord and other unnecessary sounds get picked up.
unfortunately my good microphone has just broken and I need the use my web cams microphone, the overall problem is the mouth on the avatar just moves his jaw too much when i'm not talking.

if you could make a push to talk option for voice lip sync that that would be great.

UPDATE: I forgot to say this but I prefer push to talk really is because it dose not cut ends of your words off like voice detection can.

There might be one issue with what you are going for then:
If you want to use that push-to-talk while FaceRig is not active.

That requires a bit more work to get working. That said, the idea by itself is a good idea, and we'll see how /if the devs take it (not part of the dev team FYI)

From what I've seen, FaceRig doesn't pick up on any stray sounds that aren't human voice.

thats ok with me, rebinding keys is not a problem. besids I would bind it to my mouse extra buttons which i only use for talking anyways.

we web cam must be below the pc screen for me because when it was up top it was not tracking my lips and just making random faces. my keybord is 3 inches from cam and that is close enough to pick up the sound.

Sorry, made a bit of a typo and meant it differnetly:
What if you want to use the "push to talk" when you are in another game? Software like TeamSpeak have this option, but it's much harder to program then just "press a key" since they have to do some tricks to listen to your keyboard, basically having a key-logger (this time of course not in a bad way, but AV's might not know the difference if not done correctly)

just to say this, I'm going to do alot of testing with my microphone for a bit befor I continue with this discussion.

ok back from mic testing and this was the results. It depends microphone, its levels, sensitivity, or just the its self. I tested both my head set mic and webcam mic.
My headphone mic has vary low levels that it needs to be set to 100% sensitivity and have 20-30db boost just to get the lips to move. the lips move but the buzz in the mic makes them unuseable, but the mic has allways not been good. (small lip jiter because of mic boost and sensitivity on max, but its a bad mic)
now for the web cam mic. the web cam mic works well the lips move with no sensitivity boost or level increase needed but it messes up randomly at any point just blasting loud static.
In short it all comes down to the microphone it self and how go it is. my solution is to just get a new(better) mic strap it to top of screen.

for this I thought each program has its own control over keys because there system rules and applications rules. applications just modify the system rules temporarily for the application in the application and not the the system its self, thats why we can set the same key to diffrent programs and do diffrent or same things while multiple programs are open at once or just one program is open. In short a key set for facerig should not affect othere programs unless you have the keys set improperly, like having your shoot key as same as talk key. The point i think your trying to make is hard to program which i understand.
Sorry if i missed the point it is about 40 degrees for the first time in months and I can't think straight. It's cold :)
