FaceRig was designed to be used with about every off-the-shelf webcam, and that's also where the tracking-software (made by the third-party Visage Technologies) was made to do.
Also, the models aren't full, and they don't have anything below the waist, so for a while full body or even just hand movements won't be tracked since that would both require a change in the tracking software and a restriction on certain camera's.

Kinect is generally unsupported by FaceRig and either doesn't work or even crashes FaceRig.
Some people have gotten it to work, but a whole lot haven't.
