There are however hotkeys to swap between certain presets of characters that do work when the program isn't focused. These hotkeys are only available in the "nextversion" beta release though, so you'll have to either update to that one, or wait for it to come down to the normal version (probably in a week or two)
If you want to use it on a stream or so, most streaming tools can also directly get the webcam feed of it (just make sure to use a 32-bit streaming program.
Also, as an intermediate method, try this always-on-top tool[www.labnol.org] (drect download link here[img.labnol.org])
I've used it for quite a while and it's very handy.
Just launch the program (it appears as a taskbar icon), select the window you want on top and press control + space
To disable it, just press control + space on the window again (just make sure to do that before you shut down the always-on-top app, or you'll have to close the window you have on top to remove it.
There is a feature of always on top with a webcam program (yawcam) that works without a problem. I would love to use this program during streams and such, but the other options don't seem to work.
Also it is not a problem with the characters moving while the window isn't focused, just that I need the window to stay above other programs.
Thanks.
