Proper Procedure for a clean re-install
Haya, I seem to have run into sime (seemingly somewhat common) issues with the first time set up. c0000135/VCOMP100.DDL

Having tried the mentiond fixes and not getting anywhere, i suspect that a clean re-install may be in order.

However, when i tried uninstalling face rig and its components on my own via controle pannle, using CC cleaner to clear the registery, rebooting and reinstalling from scratch the steam installer seemes to have again skipped steps... (first time there where 13 steps it listed, now its only 8) and the same issues are cropping up.

Assuming that ive been an idiot and my install is fully buggerd. What/where are all the components that would need to be un-installed and what process should i follow to get steam to try a new first time instiallation?

Thanks in advance!

I've been unable to find a way to fix the issue for several months. However, I was recently forced to "refresh"/reinstall windows and Face Rig has worked since then.

Usually, the action that restores missing files that should have been installed at first is: go to Steam > FaceRig > click on Preferences > click on Local Files and then on Verify Integrity of Application Files. Before you do this, though, make sure you launch Steam with administrator rights.

The c0000135 error appears when the redistributables have not been properly installed, and so as an alternative you can go to Steam\steamapps\common\FaceRig\_CommonRedist\vcredist and install all of the files that you see there.

Let me know how it goes.

First of all thanks for the reply. I appriciate you taking the time.

1. Validating via Steam (With admin rights) did not find any files missing.

2. In the FaceRig folder at the location specified I only see a Bin and a Mod folder, no _CommonRedist.
Using the search function, I do however find a folder of that name under \Bin\Tools.

I can not find a vcredist folder at all, but in the \Tools\ImportWizzardNew folder there are two exe's one x64 one x86 which launch a C++ installer.

I have found that Opencodecs and Webmdshow exe (located in the \bin\prerequisites folder) hadn't been installed. Running these has resulted in the Error changing from c0000135 to missing VCOMP100.DDL

I hope this gives you something to work with.

You can download the latest vcredist from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads and install it, for x64 and x86.

The CommonRedist folder can also be found here: Steam\steamapps\common\Steamworks Shared\_CommonRedist\vcredist

Having installed both vcredist and rebooted, steam again preformed its 8 step "1st time set up". After this the launcher opened as before, however when clicking launch, the launcher closed but the program itself did not start.

On a second attempt, clicking launch resulted in the c0000135 error.

The error points to those missing .DLL files that are found within the vcredist updates. Did you install all of the redistributables, for both x64 and x86 like I pointed?

And, the Steam performing steps, it sounds like the installation is not complete. Make sure that you don't have an antivirus software that is blocking FaceRig or Steam from running or completing the installation. Either add Steam and FaceRig as exceptions to your antivirus, or disable it and try running Steam with admin rights, then launch FaceRig again.

I know you have to ask. Yes, I did specifically make sure to install both the x64 and the x86 version.

I have just re-launched steam as an administrator with my AV fully disabled. This did not fix the issue. I am still getting the same c0000135 error.

By the way, thanks again for taking the time to work through this with me.

Edit: I have also gone and checked the logs of my AV and it dose not have any entries of it blocking either steam or the installation, with the last event being from the 6th of may, before I purchased Fare Rig

Could it be there is some kind of hardware/OS incompatibility?

For the record: I am running Windows 10 v1909 on an AMD R7 2700x CPU with an RX5700 GPU
