If you make a custom avatar and don't assign a .png file to it before using it, I believe Facerig will create green screen icon with your character on it. This is all fine, but if you then make an icon for the avatar and put it inside the avatar's folder. Even if it's done correctly, it will not use that .png file, it will first try to use the one it created, so you can't change it. I couldn't find anyone with this problem. This drove me insane, but I managed to fix it this way: You go to steamapps\common\FaceRig\Mod\VP\PC_CustomData\Objects\"avatar name"\ and delete the .png file in there. THEN the new icon you made will show up. Hope this helps somebody.
