All things being equal ( webcam, lighting etc) , most users so far have reported significant improvements in tracking quality , so yours seems to be a special case. Maybe there was a problem with the updater, or is it possible that you have performed changes to your lighting setup or system since last time you have used it?
We recommend using the default branch, and deleting the old config files (like mentioned in the official announcement). Also tweaking the smoothing sliders ( on both regular expressions and retargeting) should help with jittering.
Also the new SDK seems to be a bit more touchy with webcam grain, kinda have that with my PS3 Eye since this cam can get quite grainy when the light is darker.
If you have a very noisy input feed, and what you are troubled by is the jittering caused by image noise, simply bump up the appropriate smoothing sliders. You will trade off a bit of responsiveness, but the jittering will be gone.
If you have trouble with the tracker finding the face at all, then something is definitely wrong with the lighting setup (most public reactions that we got so far were that the new tracker acquires the face faster, and sticks with it better than the old tracker ) . In this case we really need to see an input video from you , to be able to figure it out :).
The suggestion to turn up smoothness has helped, as well as turning down camera framerate.
