- some of the models don't have a full body
- there are a LOT of polygons / bones in the models, more then most games would want to use
- you would first make it in an model-editor, so why would you want to get it through FaceRig first?
- same sort of a question / discussion / explenation can be found here[facerig.com].
2. YES! For example, just look at the other images in the store page, there are also human-like characters there and that are just the avatars made by HoloTech Studio's themselves. HoloTech will produce some avatar packs that they made, but the community (including you) can make their own creations and spread them if they like, for example in a steam-workshop (if/when it comes) or on http://FaceRig.us (the community made / managed site of FaceRig, yes it's a bit silent there now, since there isn't much to be done for FaceRig yet, but we hope it get's larger after launch)
All right, Well I guess it has no use for me then, but cool program anyways :)
If he was, he would still have to wait for some time, since the Studio version is planned for later down the line.
You literally just run the program, tell it what webcam input it should use (in the case you have more than one webcam), and it will start to use that to animate the character. Then, on what you want to use FaceRig on (say, Skype for example) you edit your settings and choose the FaceRig output, not your webcam. This will make the program stream your animated character instead.
Sorry if that was a little convoluted.
2: What you can do with the program is limited to your creative ability and your skill. Most people will likely use it just for skype calls and that kind of thing. BUT, when people start releasing other characters, such as ones from various games or shows (Holotech can't do this due to legal reasons, without getting permission first), you could make funny videos as those characters, or anything you like, really.
A lot of people will also likely use it for youtube videos, instead of a face-cam (like PewDiePie does, as you mentioned)
3: Yep. As I just said :3
There are two ways that people do videos like that. They either use livestreaming software and then use a picture-in-picture feature to add their webcam feed on top of what they are streaming, or they use video editing software to do it.
With FaceRig, you will be able to livestream and select the FR output instead of your webcam and have your character instead of your actual face. There are also plans to record videos with FaceRig, so you can have it as a video and add it in via editing, too, though I'm not 100% certain if that will be ready for beta (I THINK it will though)
4: Incorrect. Right now, there won't be a free version of the program due to the cost of producing one, and because there's no point making a free version of a beta. Once the program reaches full release, there are plans to make a free version, though what will be included in the free version is still up for debate.
For reference:
FaceRig Pro can be used on videos or livestreams where you earn money, while Classic (standard) cannot. That's what they mean by "Commercial use"
Take this as the TL:DR version)
Facerig can take any webcam imput and either just show in on-screen (where it then can get captured by something else) or send it out to a "fake" webcam, which other programs can just select.
For the free version question: no, the default version is also paid, but with that version you can't use the program to make money off, aka you can't show it in video's that have adds in them or use it in any other way where you get some kind of monetary reward for using the program.
With the pro version you CAN show adds / make some money, but either version is only for personal use, not by (large) companies.
Nope. Its not. Amazon now owns Twitch, which means its going to be 80% advertisments. Twitch died the second it sold out. Even Justin.TV closed down. They are also on a huge lock down from Lizard Squad and censoring any broadcast/Banning broadcasters that have games with copyright music in it. GL using FaceRig on Twitch, if there will even be a Twitch after next month.
I am a far better writer than an artist. I have already planned on writing a novel but using the "visual novel" software, I found that it would be a bit quicker and possibly more enjoyable than for others to read a book as I have tend to notice. My problem is back to what I stated and I just cannot draw or create anything graphical and to be blunt honest, I have absolutely no artistic skill outside of words.
So my question is and with what I read above, this program wouldn't work well in a normal game but what about a static character picture, or many of them to be honest with you? I found legal help with the backgrounds and other setting images but what about a few static pictures from this software that you are selling? If I write a graphic novel for Steam, could I use this program for legal help in publishing for profit in Steam?
From what I have read, it takes webcam images and you can play with them. Is that true because if it is I could really use a program like this for my own writings and it would save me a whole lot of trouble in finding unwanted additional help at this time and I would be more than happy to buy your program.
To be honest, I am disabled due to Multiple Sclerosis and I am thinking of more of a "learning" tool on how to live with MS and the like but what if it wasn't later on? Is there a limit to what I can do commercially and would a royalty be involved in producing from this program...if so, how much?
Thank you. I am not trying to scam or scheme...I more would like to actually do something with my life and not just "accept being disabled" while I still have full access to my hands and eyesight at this time.
Once again thank you in advanced no matter what your answer is. Sincerely,
Paul Backer
Sorry for taking so long to reply to you (this tends to happen when posting on a very old thread:D )
According to our EULA, in order to legally publish content (like exported animations) from FaceRig into a different software/paywalled content/content that generates revenue other than that on Twitch/Youtube and other video streaming services, you will need FaceRig Studio.
FaceRig Studio is set to launch in sometime towards the end of this year and will be aimed at indie companies/developers mainly. For more details, contact us at info[at]facerig[dot]com
