Do I need a webcam or does any camera work?
I'm thinking about buying FaceRig on sale, but I have one question: Do I need a webcam to record a live performance, or can I use a prerecorded video from any camera? Let's say I do some recordings of myself, can I import the recorded videofiles into FaceRig and have them analyzed and export them with a digital character of my choosing? In this case I could cut the videos beforehand and only export the parts I need in FaceRig ... I have Premiere Pro and Media Encoder, so if this is possible but requires a specific video format that is no problem ...

Thanks!

Yes it is possible and fully supported.
In FaceRig there is an option to import video's to be used as a "webcam" source.

One tip though, with each recording, before you really start, make sure to look straight at the camera with a neutral face for at least 1-3 seconds so that FaceRig can find and start tracking your face.
Also, since you can't see the response directly, you'll have to try for yourself for a bit to see how much / fast you can move your head for the tracker to not lose you, but I doubt that will be much of a problem.

Happy FaceRig-ing, if you decide to go for it :steamhappy:

Alright, thanks for your reply! I guess I'll buy it then, looking forward to creating some cool stuff :emofdr:
