Custom avatar monetization
Will I need to shell out for the pro version to sell custom created avatars?

No need to buy the pro to sell custom created content.

A clear distinction is to be made made between custom avatars/props/backgrounds, which you create with 3d editing software such as Blender 3ds Max or Maya . Those are your creations and we have no business policing what you do with them :) In theory you can even sell those if you don't have Facerig at all ( but then again how would you test that they actually load okay in FaceRig ? :P Need at least the base version for that, and to have access to the documentation.)

The commercial restrictions are about the content you create with the Facerig program ( videos and such) . Not content you create in other programs, FOR the Facerig program.


You will need Pro if you plan to monetize the video content output by FaceRig via ads, ( like for instance showing the content on a monetized YouTube channel) and if the revenue you get from those sources is above the equivalent of 500 USD per month :).. If it is below 500 you can use the basic version for ad-based monetization too.

If you want to directly sell the video content you generate with FaceRig , then Classic and Pro are no good. You will need the upcoming FaceRig Studio (Pro is only for online monetization of the video content, not for direct selling.
For any form of keeping the content behind a pay-wall : selling, access fee, admission ticket, subscription, you need the Studio) .
