Headset microphones
1.) Does FaceRig have problems with small microphones like the Raker Kraken Chroma's when its slitghtly infront of the face?
2.) How could I adjust it if it has problems, like, left smiling doesn't work?
3.) Should I put it underneath my chin or alongside it?
4.) What about the Earcups/ Headband?

Thanks!

Hello :)

Tracking quality is not a binary thing (either on at 100% quality, or off completely) , it gradually improves/ deteriorates the depending on how much ( or how less) your face is obstructed or the lighting is good or not.

Yes any part of your face being obstructed ( either by microphones, hairbangs , or anything similar) will negatively affect tracking, but the amount of negative impact greatly varies depending on how large the obstruction is (in some cases you may still find the result acceptable).

2.To solve that please tweak the advanced tracking parameters. See this guide ( interface has changed a bit since it was written but the basic info is still relevant) : https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=315322209

3. The microphone is best moved below the jawline. I imagine the absolute ideal solution is a laryngophone ( throat mic) , but I wouldn't suggest going to that extreme :D)

4. The ear-cups/headband should not cause any significant deterioration in tracking, as they do not obstruct your face.

Regards
Florin, the FaceRig project lead.
