Problem Importing Custom Model
I've been having trouble getting a model imported into FaceRig for the past week and I've been able to troubleshoot almost all of my issues except this last one.

First of all, I'm had problems running the new Model Importer because I was trying to open it through a "C:/Program File (x86)" file path and it wouldn't open because of the spaces. I mounted another hard drive and reinstalled the program but this time on a non-space riddled file path. I've got the importer to open, and have been able to load my data files, and the textures, and the animations just fine, but then when I click on Import, the script runs for a while before breaking at a certain point.

The error I get is here: https://pastebin.com/FuHgHFpj

When trying to search for similar assert fails it seems that the issue might have to do with hardware. However, I have a pretty robust video rig that can run most contemporary games at ultra or very high performance settings. I tried setting the FaceRig Launcher to dx9 to see if that would make a difference, but I get the same error.

So this is an problem, but also when I try to import the mesh it says there are loads more vertices than what are in my actual mesh. I've used MeshLab to double check my face/vert count and it is well below the limit of what it normally expects.

Any helps/advice would be really appreciated!
Hoping to hear back from the developers as well :)

Even though you say you have a good rig, could you still post your dxdiag information, as there might be specific issues with specific components.
Info on how to get and how you should post the dxdiag info can be found here:

I myself can't help further since I'm not a dev / artist, but I'm still looking forward to seeing a good result for your model (whatever it may be :steammocking: )

Thanks for the response! Here is the dxdiag info:

Also, is there a reason why this was moved to 3D community created content, since the problem that I'm having a bug/troubleshooting an error upon importing?

Because of two reasons:
1. It isn't a problem in the general problem, but instead in the creation process of a 3D avatar.
2. On this subforums the devs / artists related to the importer are more active, along with other artists who might have had a similar problem and might be able to chime in.

Great thanks FurRiffic.

I've actually been able to get the importer to execute the entire import, but then when I open FaceRig there is nothing visible. I have tried to make sure that all of the setting are correct and I've cross referenced as much as I can, but I worry is has something to do with the camera... Any further advice?

If you try zooming/moving the model, does something show up? Something I have seen/heard a couple of times is that the model was behind the camera so moving / zooming out made it visible, meaning the model and cam needed to be moved around before importing.

I've tried to follow a lot of different examples/tutorials for placing the camera including:
https://facerig.us/index.php?threads/avatar-import-process-visemes-reference.476/

However, I don't have a good frame of reference for where the camera should actually be placed. I know there is a focal angle for the camera, but in some instances there seems to need to be a separate bone/object for the camera but I haven't bee able to get that working correctly. Also is there a way to zoom in and out within FaceRig?

Any further advice (or chime-in anyone!) would be awesome.
thx

There are a couple of 3D examples that you could download and take a look at for the bones (don't have the link right now, should be in one of the pinned posts.

And yes, you can with scrolling while holding control, alt, shift or a combo of those keys.
Try it out on a normal char to find the right combo

I haven't been able to find the examples, though I've heard reference to them a lot. Didn't see them in the pinned posts either. I also sent my files to the artists content team email but haven't heard anything back, are they still checking that email?

I did actually find out the controls as well, thanks for the helping me. I looked at the manual (should've done that first tbh) and tried to move the camera around my scene to see if the character was visible. No such luck. I'm thinking that it has something to do with the actual textures are this point, but as I was playing around with the camera bone I noticed that it was pointing in a lot of different directions depending on how I had set up my .dae file. Again, a reference file would be very valuable since I think it would clarify some points.

Thanks again for any and all help!

Here's the topic I was talking about, second link in it:

Or a direct link to the avatar download:

For some reason I wasn't ever able to get these google drive pages to load, but I just tried to open it in an incognito window and it opened right away. I'll take a look at these files and let you know if I discover where I'm making mistakes.

Thanks for all the help!
