How to do complete re-textures of FaceRig avatars.
How to do complete re-textures of the existing avatars.
Here is the data pack that allows you to edit the base diffuse textures for all bundled avatars (and some of the props too). Now you can beautify (or deface) them at your leisure :).

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13LGx9IgStVJ8qJ6LL7dAJCmK056v79m9?usp=sharing

Please read the pdf here https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8KlsC2kpc7nRHJZNWJHY0lyWDQ&usp=sharing about how to use them
(It should be pretty simple: just edit them and place them in a certain folder - written in the pdf - and then, when you start FaceRig, the edited ones will be used instead of the stock ones).

What is also cool is that you don't even have to exit FaceRig to update your progress while you are editing them. Just save the tga from your graphic editing program directly in that custom folder, alt-tab to FaceRig, reload that avatar and the latest brush-strokes will be instantly visible :).

Happy painting :)

PS: Yes you can edit the color masks for extra custom patterns the same way too.

Hi, I've been playing around painting up the polar bear, but ran into a problem. I've re-painted all the body parts and the eyes and head load up fine, but for some reason not the arms and feet.

Hi, you most likely didn't use the correct naming convention. Also please be sure to export is as 1024 / 2048

Hi, thanks for the reply.
I was very mindful of the naming and I've checked several times over and cannot find any errors on my end with them. (It was the first thing that came to mind.)
Screenshot of the custom folder with filenames: https://i.imgur.com/qr0vSI2.png

I edited all the files the same way, but the hands and feet one is the only one not loading. I've also triple-checked that the files in the custom folder are the edited ones.
(Files I've repainted are face, eyes and hands/feet, - clothes I've left alone)

I've also made a little recording to illustrate what I'm seeing on my end:

Hi, please send us the files at artsupport[at]holotech[dot]eu so we can check what could be the issue. Also please keep in mind that we are on holiday and we will be able to reply when we get back to the office (:

is there a tutorial anywhere to know what to do? The pdf does not tell you how to do this at all, it only says to save the name as the same file. The file names do not tell you what they are and clicking them does not help as it just looks like stuff from a horror movie. How do you color them? Do I put a overlay file over it? That did not do anything. https://imgur.com/a/IyjCXzg I want to make the fur all the same white color

You could use Photoshop, Blender, ZBrush to re-texture the FaceRig avatars. You can find many tutorials online on how to use them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwspCEsmYh8 (in this one the textures that are re-colored are from GTA SA, but the process is the same). Here is another tutorial that shows how to change the color of textures in Photoshop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-5r0YuvSj0

So what do we do when one of the models we want to retexture isn't included in the provided data packs?

Which model is that? In the texture pack you'll find the custom textures for all of the Holotech original avatars.
