Texturing existing avatars
Hi,

I've been reading the documentation for creating fur and other masks for Facerig, and have had some success importing them by browsing to the file in the custom colour settings. However, I am trying to modify the existing Danny character more than a simple mask will allow.

Essentially, I want to have his fur a single colour (rather than two-toned greys) with a fur mask layer for customisable markings. A good example is the white wolf included in the list of default avatar skins, however this is not customisable. The markings I can do through the fur mask, but I am unsure how to change the default texture of existing avatars. The documentation explains how to create a model from scratch and use the custom content import script to 'package' the model and shaders into a format Facerig can understand, however I am no modeller and don't know where to find the resources necessary to create new shaders for the existing models.

I would really appreciate if someone could explain whether this is possible at the moment, and how this is achieved. Thanks!

Aside the masking system, we will be providing this week a way for you to override and alter the base textures for all avatars from the base pack.
Soon you will be able to beautify (or deface) them at your leisure if you have an image editor that can load and save TGA files. :).

Fair warning: loading an avatar whose textures have been changed will take a few second extra on first load ( as the altered texture will have to be compiled).

Here is the data pack that allows you to edit the base diffuse textures for all bundled avatars (and some of the props too). Now you can beautify (or deface) them at your leisure :).

Please read the pdf inside about how to use them (It should be pretty simple: just edit them and place them in a certain folder - written in the pdf - and thenwhen you start FaceRig the edited ones will be used instead of the stock ones).

What is also cool is that you don't even have to exit FaceRig to update your progress while you are editing them. Just save the tga from your graphic editing program directly in that custom folder, alt-tab to FaceRig, reload that avatar and the latest brush-strokes will be instantly visible :).

Happy Painting :)

Hello there Holotech Studios, I downloaded the ZIP file and looked into the textures; sadly it doesn't seem to be complete?

I'd like to adjust Alya, the Elven Lady (Avatar07) and her possible props, specifically the bat wings. I'd like to change the colour of the bat wings, but I can't find those wings in any accessories-folder.

I didn't see a way to re-colour props either which would be probably easier (like you can also colour hair, eye pupils, skin colour etc.).

Could you help me out with those files which can be assigned to Alya?

Thank you very much, kind regards,
Meri

PS: If you could provide (feathery) ANGEL wings, that'd be even greater }=)
