[SOLVED] Import Wizard issue - Can't write script params file
Hi,

I'm having no luck being able to use the Import Wizard. I've seen other threads solve this issue with a fresh install, but it hasn't worked for me.

The message "Can't write script params file ( Params.txt )" occurs when I try to choose a folder. I also get a similar message attempted to open my model's collada file. The folder contains the collada and texture file, and I'm sure there is write permission in this folder. I've also tried it in various other folders with no luck.

I'm pretty sure the import wizard is acting like it's in the wrong directory because the Documentation button doesn't work either as it fails to find the PDF file despite the error message showing the correct file and directory and the PDF being in that directory.

If those who solved this issue could chime in, it would be helpful. I've also email artsupport a few days ago with no reply, so I assume maybe they are on holidays.

Thanks

Have you tried right-clicking the importer and selecting run as administrator?

Yep. That was one of the things I tried to make sure I had permission to write with the program.

Otherwise, is maybe your AV blocking the importer? I do NOT suggest turning it off, instead I suggest to exclude the folders from it's scan (and if it has something like application sandboxing, turning that off temporarily.

Other then that, I'm out of tricks so you'll have to wait for the devs to respond

(If you don't know how to do the above, tell me your AV and I'll help look)

Yeah guess I'm out of luck. I don't have any antivirus on.

Wow, I just realized I never ran the Facerig program through Steam. I've always been running it from the directory.

It installed a bunch of things that I didn't have, even though I installed most of the packages, but importer is finally able to start running.

Now, I'm getting new errors, so I'll probably be back asking for more help.
