i've got the same issue, i think maybe i messed something up by trying to practice first before doing anything, but now everytime i try to either practice or do the band trial, i've got that screen saying "0%, did you even try" and no note falling (except for a single wall of four notes that i can't seem to play either way)

Same issue here. Wanted to try the demo frist, before buying but without notes, it's kinda hart to play the game xD
In one save file I did the practice first as well. In a second save, I skipped the practice, but in both ways, no notes. It's just "endlessly" (quite after one minute with no notes) shows the empty guitar fretboard.

Hello! The same thing happened to me. It turns out that from the beginning of the game, the Guitar Hero mini-game wasn't working; the notes weren't appearing. It wasn't a problem for me because, to be honest, I would have skipped the mini-game anyway since I play for the conversations. The problem is that I'm at a point in the concert where I can't skip the mini-game, so the game has completely frozen (I can't even exit it because it thinks I'm in the middle of a conversation). Any solutions?

That is such a shame, As a rhythm gamer this aspect is what attracted me to the game to begin with. Not gonna buy a broken game though. How is the game even in this awful state on release?

It's a bug, the developers have told me they're trying to fix it. For now, if you press the “backspace” key, you can skip it and continue the story even during concerts. It worked for me.
