Gamma not fixed years later?

Hey there
after reading hundreds of reddit outrages, where people struggel with the not working gamma slider and suggest hundreds of things you could TRY to make it work, is there any patch or mod i wasn`t able to find wich fixes this broken Game?
I tried resolution
fullscreen/not Fullscreen
restart
etc...
it´s insane to me, that reddit is FULL of posts coplaining about this and a decade later theres still no fix for this?

If that doesn't work, could you please elaborate on what exactly doesn't work about the slider? Is it a slider issue or does gamma just not change when using slider

okay this is ONE of like 20 reasons why the gamma won`t change (source reddit/YT/Steamposts)

i move the slider and gamma won`t change :/

1. Verify game files through Steam and try again.

2. If that doesn't work:
Close SOMA.

Go to
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Soma\Main

Open the file in notepad ending in _user_settings.cfg

Under "Graphics TextureQuality", there will be a "Brightness" option. Change its value to something between 0.301715 and 1.696001.
As a test, you can change it to Brightness="1.696001" and see if the game is overly bright.

Save the file, and run SOMA again. If the game is overly bright, you can use this method to change your gamma.
