This was a modified NS2 engine that was meant to make toy games for you and your friends alla garry's mod.
U know what i mean. I asked about the basic functionality of engine. Not about the animation and graphics of the subnautic quality. It's just about engine.
Their engine allows data functions. It's about whether this engine can repeat these functions.
Please do not need to talk about numbers. Obviously, you have no idea how much it all costs. Please, if I am mistaken - show me the projects released in Steam, in the development of which you participated. And of course I mean not early access because people, at the stage of developing games in the early access, do not imagine what path you need to go to release.
I ask just cuz i know it. And yes, I was thinking of doing something in the same as Garison games-mode, but on this engine. Of course, something simple and casual, which does not require me to perform complex operations in programming, cuz i'm not specialist in the it. I'm really interested in the functionality and capabilities of this project.
I didn't ask community about it :) I hope dev will tell more about functions of their engine here or in the news or maybe new video.
This engine isn't supported at the moment. The game was put on hold. If you would like to make something similar to your project ideas I would suggest an engine that is supported by a dev team and that has good documentation ie Unity/Godot/Unreal. Those engines would certainly accommodate your needs.
Anyways, you would need source code access to actually do something of the magnitude of Subnautica on this engine. You can program in lua for the game programming aspect of the project, but without engine programming I can hardly see how you will be able to extend this engine to accommodate a project with the scope of a survival game.
Also, it might be worthwhile to invest time in learning some programming if you are a lone game dev... in the end gameplay all comes down to programming and game design (sure artwork is nice, but if it isn't fun to play why bother).
