How to play Quake 3 maps in QL??
So I put the Q3 map in the base3 folder and when I tried to run it I got this error "quake live error invalid bsp number (46 should be 47 or greater)"

So does anybody know how to run Q3 maps in QL?

im having the same problem with maps that used to work in QL that ive had saved on my hdd and used with QL offline that doesnt seem to want to work with those maps anymore either.

Can't help with this yet - bsp version number is in byte 04 of .bsp file - version 46 (Q3) 2E, version 47 (QL) 2F. Previously you could run version 46 in QL. I tried changing the byte to 2F, but then you get a fail because the bsp should contain an advertisement 'lump'. Latest GTKRadiant can compile a map into QL-type bsp, but not yet sure whether old Q3 bsp can be kludged to work in QL. Even then, would need to create .aas file for bot play. Since people will be making maps for QL, someone may know soon. For now - :(

Not an expert in this but check out Steam workshop there are map packs there which probably include maps you need and it will add them in for you, think you need to restart aftet

I really hope there is Q3 to QL map converter soon b/c this is what I was excited about for the new update :steamsad:

To fix use q3map2 via command line. Do "q3map2 -game quake3 -convert -format quakelive <mapname>.bsp" you'll get a <mapname>_c.bsp then that will work in quakelive. However, game modes like ctf do not work and I can't get an aas file working for bots with bspc. However ffa, ca, tdm...etx should work.

Let me know if ctf or bsp2aas works with quake 3 maps. I have been converting maps from elite force. Going to sleep now, will check again tomorrow.

Keep in mind the server is no longer able to let you download custom maps. If you want to let people download custom maps during connect, they must be in the workshop and the server must know their workshop id.

Oh now I get why people say that you can only use workshop maps. When I get around to it I might upload some old Yankee server maps and this game will feel like Quake 3 again [:)

PonchoDaPig, if you do a good job at converting the maps, and you have all the required permissions from the original map makers and such, I see no reason why you can't upload the map to steam works. However, first we need to figure out if it's possible to get AAS files working and figure out if modes like CTF will work.

My favourite game mode is "ictf", but when I try to play threewave maps for "ctf" the flags are bugged. How can I fix this problem?
