I haven't installed anything from the workshop or even visited the workshop yet. I just finished a 1.0Gb upate. I tried to connect to the server twice as someone mentioned in a different thread. I tried multiple servers. I tried to verify integrity of game cache from Steam and no updates or downloads happened.

I'm wondering if this is an error caused by an old version game. I did move my Quake Live game from my HDD over to my SSD since I free'd up a lot of space. This is when it wanted me to download 1.0Gb. If this is the problem, which .PK3 files should I delete to fix the problem?

Erase the entire thing and redownload is my advice.

Sponge has a fix! I will quote him:

"Seems like some people are having issues that are fixed when they have extra pk3s in their Quake Live installation folder, almost always caused by people mucking with their game files. Try deleting all pk3s except for pak00.pk3 and bin.pk3. If this helps, we'll change it so in the future so you can't load any extra pk3s from baseq3."

"Yea, looks like in some cases stuff got left behind from the pre-Steam transition too. Either way, deleting it should work, and I'll see if we can be a bit more strict with loading those files in a future update."

So go into your baseq3 folder and delete all pk3s except pak00.pk3 and bin.pk3 and you should be golden!

I didn't do anything to my Quake folder. I moved it from one drive (G:) to my other drive (C:) and it downloaded a 1.0Gb update anyways

However, I erased everything and redownloaded the entire game.. which was 1.0Gb lol. And I can seem to connect to servers now. Thanks for reminding me to play Quake and that it works again. haha. Hopefully there's more players now.
