Like Avalon Hill of old
The game style has the look of if Avalon Hill were still around and making computer TBS games. Matrix Games publishes many strategy titles like this if this is your sort of game.

this game reminds me of Rise and Decline of the 3rd Reich.

Right, but it's not as good. Why can't anyone bring that one to life again?

I agree with you! Since I was one of the guys at the old Avalon Hill, I should know. And take away that incredibly gaudy and pointless mapboard and replace it with that excellent skin mod and we have a good game. (What were the developers thing? I thopught I designed the worst mapboard ever, but these guys goi ME BEAT!

Strategy boardgames have made a comeback. You should get the old gang back together and reform AH.

When you've been a "star" on Broadway, it is tough to go back to small town repartory.

Well thanks for those good old days. I still have about 10-12 AH board games on my bookcase.

I recently found out that AH still exists as a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc., who's corporate HQ is located just 4 blocks from my house. They even have two life-sized Mr. Potato Head statues out front.

Good for you wild. Actually, the board wargame hobby is alive and well with dozens of titles published every year by "micro-publishers" and veteran hobbyists. Some really good games are published every year. Quite a few of these current day designers actually have been published by the old Avalon Hill.

DAMN SHAME-I was so hoping I would ever see a PC version of "UP FRONT" That would have been a great version of a CCG!

Don't get me started on the whole topic of User Interface/User Experience! I admit that when I first started out in the business, I was learning and I had as many misses as hits as far as visual design. But we've all learned a lot in the last 40 years! I just wish we were not always learning the same lessons and inventing the same wheel over and over again. In the old classic board game days, game designers would study each other's designs and steal--er, "borrow"-- what worked well and put it into their bag of tricks for their next design. Why in the Internet Age are designers not feeding off of each other more for the betterment of the users/players/buyers? Thanks for your input!
