Disembark Failed
I am playing my first game that I wish to use Amphibious Assault. I have purchased assault points and loaded my unit on landing craft (not troop transports). When I attempt to disembark (in Norway) I always get "Disembark Failed". I cannot seem to unload my troops an any of the available assault locations.

What can I be doing wrong that won't allow me to disembark my units in any location available?

Could you please send your save game to support[at]wastelands-interactive.com

Hi,
Chances for disembark to be successful depends on power/strength of all your fleets in particular sea zone versus enemy fleet power.
In worst scenario ( your case ) you have only 5% to perform successful diesmbark. Try to increase your sea dominance to have higher probability to succeed.

How do you do amphibious assaults in the first place? I can't figure it out. I don't know how I did it, but I disembarked some tanks successfully once, and I can't figure out how to send the rest of my troops over.

I have emailed my game file to WI but haven't heard back from them.

@Endless Rain
You spend money to buy Assault Points. Then you embark your troops at a port. Then you used the fleet management screen to disembark them.

However, I am unable to get them to assault any hex.

If it makes any difference, I've found that LOS on the tile you want to land on (I use air recon from fighters) usually allows a landing without having too wait too much. I go for the tiles without units on them because otherwise it is nearly impossible and you lose too much combat strength. Also there is no limit to the amount of times you can try to execute a landing in a turn so keep trying (save the game first in case your unit is destroyed in the process, although if it is, it is best to wait another turn because it will most likely be destroyed again). The other thing that works for me is I never use corps; always armies. Whether infantry, mechanised or amoured, armies are always the best way to go as corps just get decimated when they land.

The other important thing to remember once you have landed is supply. This can become a major issue after the turn of the landing. I've found that going straight for cities tends to solve this (particularly in Africa), as I'm not sure yet how the alternative supply thing works.

Hope this was helpful. Good luck.

Although it's funny because no matter who I play as, I have never been able to land troops in Ireland. Anyone else had this issue?

I can report that I started a new game and this time used larger units when attempting invasion. I was able to successfully land my units in Norway. Based on what the developer said, it looks like the units I had chosen earlier were too weak to successfully land. After this latest game, with successfull landings, I can see that a small unit as I had chosen had no chance.

Only way for me to get to Ireland was using airborne army units and drop by parachute ;) But to be able to do that you need invade england so the range wont be a problem if i remember correctly. And beting England was no easy cake i can promise :)

Yes, there is that but I think landing tanks would be much more efficient and it seems a bit unrealistic that Ireland can't get invaded, when America, Canada and all the other island nations can. So yeah, as much as I don't like using airborne corps, I guess I'll settle for them.

Also, England is easy if you bomb your way through their tanks, and then when you land yours, go straight for their planes. Seems to work every time ;)

Note: even if landing craft fails the first time you can repeatedly attempt to over-and-over and the game makes another calculation and even if it doesn't work say 5-6 times in a row the landing may still happen if the dice rolls permit it. I have had invasions take anywhere from first time to say 10 times until they land.......and have had invasions snuffed out right away from lack of recon on the designated tile.......duh :tank:
