Verify your game cache: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

If that fails to fix it, email me the log file and the save game that crashes when you try to load.

Does it work fine with new save games?

Thanks, it works now.
For possible further improvements, here's what I did:
- So far, it always crashed upon opening 'Load Game', never showed any save games.
- I checked for faulty files, there was one.
- Then I started a new game.
- Tried to load games and the folder opened.
- The problem seems to have been a special character in the filename 'Ü'. And now it was messed up.
- I changed the name of the savegame with Mac Finder.
- Now I can start it again.

The special character wasn't a problem before, but now seems to be. I'd advise to either solve the problem or simply to not allow special characters.

That's odd, as mac should be utf8, so I will investigate further, thanks!

Special characters seems to work on windows. Had to go to file explorer to get the ü in a savefile name, but it still worked. åäö also works fine.

Yup, worked fine for me in Windows, but not on Unixes.

In the past it used to be the opposite.

I probably didn't check non ASCII against on the Unixes when I implemented the save game preview system a few versions back.

Anyway, I am working on the issue now, I'll report here when it's fixed, and I'll have a hotfix out for it shortly after that.

Odd enough the crash comes from a fix I had to the same issue about 2 years ago (v1.23.1). Reverting the code back to what it was before v1.23.1 fixes it. I am not sure what the use case was to change the code, but I can only suspect it was for the 32-bit mac build. Anyway, it's working now. Hotfix is building for Linux and OSX. I have to wait for it to finish, then upload them, then test them. They should be ready to go around my bed time.

Hot fix is released, you may have to restart steam to download it.
