Added Component help
Ok started out just wanting to modify basic stats for a couple components, saved copy the component file for game in a separate folder so I could mess around with file and then recover to default if I messed up stuff too much or wanted to continue one of my existing game saves.

Anyways the basic changes I made seem to all be working as intended so that is fine.
However while mucking about I also decided to add a few new components and those aren't showing up when I go into advanced designer.
I added a new chassis, Fuel Type and Induction, all high performance versions of existing components. Made sure they had unique IDs and for the fuel and induction made sure I added them as choices for the engines I wanted to use them with.
They all use the picture's for the components I based them off and of course I named them (didn't use a number like the existing components just names of what they are.

Do I need to put an additional link or modify another of the files for the new components to show up?
And yes if I get it working with the added components and adjustments to basic components I've made I will likely go over the creating a Mod video again and make my own little mod so I can restore the default game files and have my adjustments easily available when I want to muck about with them. However for moment I'm just trying to get the basic stuff I've done to show up and work in game.

You have to start a new game for components to appear in a saved game.
Data from the .xml files are copied into the save games.

I shut down GC completely and restarted game then started a completely new save game but the added components aren't showing up.

Not a big deal as I'm just mucking about here but curious as to what I may have missed or done wrong.
When I load up my edited components.xml file in the mod tools editor all the changes and added components are there so they got saved to the file but replacing the default components.xml file witj it and starting GC and new save the added chassis, fuel type and induction aren't showing up as available selections in the advanced designer.

Regardless the edits I made to already existing components are working so at least I've got that much right lol.

Are you creating a mod file or overwriting the default game files? Do you have any mods installed/set to run?

Do you meet the necessary skills requirements and year requirements to see the new components?

Just replacing the default game file, no mods running, setting up new game with skills set to 100 and disabled technology so have immediate access to everything from start, or at least should.

For my added components I gave them ID #s 1001, 1002, 1003 and named them Composite Unibody, Performance Hybrid and DualCharger. Left the Picture same as parts they are based off of and typed in my own about after deleting the numbers in that block. Wondering if the about block is what is causing my issue.

Well, SP9 just came out, so make sure the files weren't overwritten.

Outside of that, check your localization flags. If you're typing names, you're going to have to disable localized names.

Check your log files for error messages.

Get the chassis working before switching to the engine stuff.

Will try disabling localization, that sounds like most likely candidate as I have my modified file saved in a separate folder so I can just copy it back into the main game folder when I want to tinker with stuff.

Learned mucking about with "simple" mods on other games to always create backup copies of both the original game files and the file I'm tinkering with so I don't screw up and lose one or the other due to my clumsiness, game updates or whatever.

Removing localization for my added stuff has it showing up in game now.
Guessing since I didn't create duplicate pictures with the new names and descriptive text in the localization files is why they show under the old names with no description, but that's ok since I can still tell which is which and this is simply for my own amusement.
Note the names I gave them are listed in the drop down once on the actual design panel just not on the initial part selection menu where picture is shown and description of the part is given.

Anyways thanks for your time and help, can't wait to get home from work tonight so I can start a new game with my adjusted/added stuff to play around with.:steamhappy:
