Deleting discontinued components/vehicles
I've recently come back to playing GC for first time in a couple of years. There's one thing that's mildly annoying me that I can't find anything about.

When I create components for a vehicle, I sometimes will create the component and name it "Test1" etc, so that I can modify other components that I intend to use with it where I may then go back and finalise editing it in the "Modify" section, whilst ending the production of the test component so that I'm only developing the finalised component.

However this "TestX" component can still be seen in the "Modify" menu which can clutter up the components list. I recall being able to delete this from components list, but I can't remember how this is done?

No. The purpose of the discontinued list is to show discontinued models. Likewise, the showroom lists show everything you've done.

Instead of such unorthodox design methods, have you tried the prototyping system in the advanced designer?

I'm not entirely comprehending what you're asking.

-You design a component.
-You then Modify->Redesign that component before the fist component is completed?
-You return to the Modify Window and End Production the of the first component?
-Which list does the first component appear in now?

End Production will remove a component/vehicle from all lists. The exception is if you have the "Show Discontinued" components checkbox selected (Or any spelling variant there of). OR if you have no active designs, the game will default to showing you discontinued. In the case of vehicles, if you still have a vehicle actively for sale or have inventory of, it will still display discontinued models in a few lists.

So what I do is:

- Design the component/vehicle naming it "TestX".
- Modify->Redesign component with desired changes.
- Modify->End Production

After this, the model/component will only appear when "Show Discontinued Vehicles" is selected, but this clutters the page. In the case of a vehicle it will also appear in the showroom. Is there any way to permanently delete vehicles/components so that they do not appear in either list?

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I normally do use the prototype system, but that isn't ideal when designing the first components at the start of saves. I've found an easier solution by saving the settings in the "Summary" section.

Anyway I just want to say thanks for all the amazing work you've put into this game Eric!
