What operating system are you using? What is your monitor's resolution? Did you change the settings before starting the game?

The new game button is the top button on the bottom right panel. It says "New Game"

That opens a window. You set your save name, select the game settings, and then click continue.

If you do the tutorial, it should walk you through what buttons to hit.

W10 pro up to date. running at 1680 monitor will handle 1920, I don't think I changed anything in settings.
Now when I launch it it shows on taskbar only, if I click it, it expands to a black screen. I do have other system issues that I haven't resolved yet, including links in viewed email don't work; don't know if its related. Anyway, I will delete, reboot, reinstall and see what happens. Thanks.

Sounds like you might be having graphical issues.

Anyway, the game will only load if the window is focused. You may have to wait a little while for all the assets to load. So you may have a black screen for a little while if your computer is underpowered or having other issues.

When you get to the main menu, where it says "GearCity", you'll find the new game button in the bottom right. Clicking that pulls up a window. Fill out the information and click "Continue".
