Beginner trouble
Hey, so I started a company in Buenos Aires on normal in 1900. I make a very cheap phaeton (so cheap in fact I get the car of the people achievement), and start selling. To my suprise, i actually manage to profit, and end up having 2.500.000 dollars at the end of 1907, also thanks to contracts. However, now suddenly people wont buy my car even though for the first time I set a new car on the market, a trim of my phaeton, even though it is cheaper and better. No new competition has entered the market in Buenos Aires, my branch tells me. Even though I have a branch in highly competitive NYC, I can't understand why people suddenly won't buy there as well. Dont get me wrong, I still sell cars, it is just as if they have dereased very rapidly in popularity. I do not think it is old design that is the root of the issue, actually my old phaeton still sells better than the 1908 trim!
I also find cost info under the branch distrubution panel weird, it does not seem to make sense, for excample, when I look now, it says the material cost is 200 BOTH in NYC (where I have a tiny factory) and Buenos, and ive read that the stars at the city panel should affect that. It also says my manufacturing cost is 0, maybe because im not producing anything to sell off my stocks, but it should say what it would cost to manufacture the veichle, right? Weirdest of all, it says my Total Unit Cost is 122651 dollars. Crazy.

Im playing on laptop, running with latest drivers.
The message warning against potential instability is talking about crashes, right? These can't be bugs because of my operating system?
If furter information is needed I will take a look in the save file.

Congratulations on starting a successful company.

Check the Buyer Rating table by selecting the vehicle in the Branch Distribution Window, and then select clicking the graph button next to where you enter the price. If you can not find this button, do the branch distribution tutorials.

This will bring up the wealth demographics chart, if you scroll down, you'll see the Buyer Rating Table. Read through the numbers and see where your buyer rating is dropping. Most likely you're getting either a low top speed or a low smoothness penalty for the vehicle.

Read the help buttons for these variables.
Material Costs is just the raw material costs of one unit.
Manufacturing Costs is the material cost of one unit, plus that unit's share of ALL your manufacturing costs, and all the labor that goes into making that unit.
Total Unit Costs is the material cost of one unit, the cost to manufacture that one unit, AND that unit's share of ALL company expenses. For example, if you built a total of 1000 cars this month, and spent $5,000,000 building a factory this month, $1,000,000 on races, and $250,000 on coffee then you are adding $6,250 to the total unit costs of each model you made. ($6,250,000 / 1000). If you only made 100 cars, and spent $6.25 Million, you would be adding $62,500 to the TCU of each vehicle. If you built 10,000 cars, it would only add $625 to each vehicle...

If you don't understand these numbers, then ignore them. Use the Material Costs to value the price of your vehicles.

Depends on what the message says, what GPU you're using, what operating system you're using, and what renderer you're using.

If you have an old Intel GPU (HD500 or older) you need to use the DirectX9 renderer. If you're not using Windows 10, you need to update the drivers from Intel's website. Do not use OEM drivers. If you're good with those, then you can click the do not warn me again box.

The issue is with Intel's piss poor drivers and the trend of putting very out of date custom OEM drivers on laptops. It used to give Microsoft a bad name, so they took over automatic driver management in Windows 10. So OEM drivers are no longer a problem for most people.
