You can find directions to fix that issue here: https://wiki.gearcity.info/doku.php?id=troubleshooting:openal32

At some point in time Steam installed OpenAL on your computer and you uninstalled it. Steam does not reinstall OpenAL if it has ever installed it on your system. You will have to manually install it using the files in the link provided, or copy the .dll files from the Redistributables folder included with the game to the same folder as GearCity.exe.

Reinstalled the game or reinstalled OpenAL? Reinstalling in Steam generally only solves checksum issues with Valve's servers. Reinstalling OpenAL will only fix issue with missing OpenAL files.

Steam suppresses operating system error messages. Please navigate to the game folder, and run GearCity.exe. If you get an error message pop up, please let me know what it says. If you do not get an error popup, please email me the log file. https://wiki.gearcity.info/doku.php?id=troubleshooting:commonproblems#game_does_not_start

Yes, as mentioned above. You have to run the installer for OpenAL if you ever uninstalled OpenAL on your system or if Steam failed to automatically install it. The installer is linked in the first link of this thread. The .dll files are also included in the Redistributables folder of the game, you would only need to drag and drop them into the exe folder if you have trouble using the installer for whatever reasons.

Chat is a difficult way to get a hold of me after Steam changed the UI of their website, I no longer get notifications of new messages.
