Stop destroying undamaged blocks.
On one hand, devs want us to craft and recycle blocks, on the other hand valuable blocks just go poof for no reason at all

I managed to cut a centipede type tech in two pieces right behind the control cab, and what happens? the whole lot of undamaged blocks violently disassemble themself.
That's bull droppings.

Hey buddy, this is an issue that is reported from time to time but despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to repeat it in the studio, and so far no one has been able to provide us with any files or steps to be able to repeat it. Is this something that happens for you often? Do you know of a way to force it to happen? Thanks :)

I don't know what the tech's name was I cut apart, but it was a simple Tier 2 or something, just one block wide and several long, with T1/T2 wheels; it had a shield generator.
Anyway, I destroyed the block directly connected to the cab an instead of scattering, the whole tail that just came loose fell apart into junk and despawned.

I just saw it several times, stuff that I wanted just flying apart without even blinking red.
The higher the monetary or utility value, the more likely it is to go to junk - and it seems other players have this opinion as well.

Ah, okay, this is a different issue to what I thought you were referring to. So the issue is that too many blocks are being destroyed on enemy techs when you defeat them?

Or just break them off. Something explodes and suddenly I have 5 or 6 blocks left from 20+.
Coincidentaly it happens far less when I use something rediculous like 10~20 cruise missiles.

what he means is he doesnt like that you guys turned down the survivability of blocks from enemy techs.

solution is: ram enemy tech with mining gear(drills ext) while having a frontal repair buble that sticks out a lot(so it can repair the blocks you detach with your drills).dont go for the cab, just eat it with your drills)

Guess I'll have to do it this way and reserve my guns for stuff too fast to catch.

Yea I found my harvestor vehicles were increasingly effective against removing bits of the enemy craft(s) through shields and repair bubbles with its mining gear. More effective then that however was the incredibly frail beam thingy from geo corp. That would sometimes actually punch through more blocks then necessary, thouogh it usually got shot off a lot sooner then I care to admit so I just didnt use it. Ended up installing boosters and larger repair fields to keep things I remove from them stable enough for me to grab with the mouse and sort of fling out of the combat zone to sort of salvage blocks that way.

I have seen several different occasions, of largers techs with a more exposed cab that gets hit end up exploding either so violently that almost all of its blocks were actaully destroyed somehow, or the mentioned above bugs where either too many or the remaining of the blocks were just outright deleted.

Of course to complicate matters the survival rate of blocks near other exploding blocks or rounds, tends to drop drastically when they are also volatile. Just try and get all the batteries out of some of these landships via mining equipment while all your guns are also shooting at it.

I was playing with the unstable branches though for almost all of this so there is that. I would like to point out while I'm rambling here that some of the techs were actually far larger and way heavier armed then some of my harvestors or other vehicles at times. Which did sour gameplay at times... Especially with too few blocks remaining after defeating some targets.

The OP is not liking that his careful aiming still results in undamaged blocks being destroyed when the enemy tech is killed.

The whole kill the cab and watch everything go poof is not that great.

I get ALOT of blocks with 2 plasma beams on front and 2 BIG magnets on the back covered with repair bubble as soon as blocks break off they got to magnets and repair ;) ......I just make sure my magnets are high enough....

i didn't even kill the cab. Just was shooting at a structure piece that was in the way and everything popped.

We've made some changes to increase the chances of block survival, which will be in a forthcoming Unstable build. Hopefully you'll notice an improvement :)
2024 this is still an issue .
