F2P but Requiers P2? LoL
What the hell.. why not just release this as DLC or a mod and not a FREE TO PLAY GAME because lets face it its not a f2p game.

It is a mod, it tells you that you'll need Portal 2 to actually play it. But i guess it does confuse people to have it show up as free to play on the main page with a name that sounds like a stand alone game.

All mods are now marked as F2P even if they require base game
See e.g. https://steamhost.cn/app/17520/

Well this is false and missleading valve need to clean their act up recently i have seen so much missleading information just watch totalbiscits "Steam Sells" series for a few examples..

Also you say that all mods are now listed as F2P well thats false too, the only mod i found on the F2P list was "Thinking with Time Machine"

Origin here i come, at least EA wont lie to me.

Basically this is a free mod, for a paid game. I see nothing wrong with that or the store page. One of the community tags suggests F2P, which is more of a problem with the community not being pedantic enough in their tagging. If released as DLC, it would indicate either: a legal affiliation with the game, or a direct affiliation with the developers; something which mods are not. I also doubt it could be released as a mod as it seems to use some unique programming to allow user control of the character that is currently not part of the Portal 2 API.

It is a mod for Portal 2, open your eyes and read it, helps once in a while you know, reading, dead easy.
The Van of Truth 24 Apr, 2014 @ 7:16pm
you do realise that its a popular mod that has been released as a standalone game... :facepunch:

Does it cost money to play thinking with portals? yes or no

This is a mod for portal 2 which is listed as a f2p game if you don't own portal 2 and try and download this mod from the FREE TO PLAY section it will say you require portal 2 to play this game, a mod is not a f2p game and should not be advertised as a f2p game whats so hard to undertand?

If this was a standalone release on steam it would fit nicely under the f2p section but its not..

Let me put this simpler for you:

If it tells you that it needs portal 2 before you can even try to cick the "play game" or "install" button, then it's not false advertisement

More importantly: You don't have to spend a dime to play this mod, so it is in fact f2p, all the technicalities in the world won't change that fact

You are wrong let me put it this way to you, when a steam user enters the steam store and navigates to the free to play section they expect these games to be free to play not mods that require you to buy the base game first. Look closely in the free to play section this is the only mod listed all other games on there are actual free to play games or standalone mods.

For something to be "false advertisement" the customer has to have lost something

Did you lose something for clicking on "thinking with time machine" and reading that it's a mod? Did the developers take away something from you to warrant you calling "false advertisement"?
.
Did you spend money on "thinking with time machine" to even have the right to claim false advertisement?
