Disabling the Automatic Softlock
So for a long time I was skeptical about all the mods that disable the soft lock on enemies when Geralt enters combat, but I just disabled it myself to try it out and I really have to say it improves the feel of the combat dramatically. At first it will feel really wonky as you actually have to manually aim all your swings, so Geralt may look like a blind child swinging a sword at first, but after a while you'll get used to it. It really forces you to time your strikes and wait for good openings. Keep in mind this disables all of Geralt's long spinning jump attacks, it limits him only to his close range strikes.

It's actually rather simple to do yourself, all you need to do is navigate to
*Witcher 3 Directory*\content\content0\scripts\game\player\states

and find the file
combat.ws

Use ctrl+f to search for the line
enableSoftLock = true;

and change it to
enableSoftLock = false;

Save the file and launch the game, a window will open up telling you that the scripts are compiling.

THANKYOU SOOOOO MUCH! The clunky nature of the auto lockon was like trying to fight with rubber bands connected to enemies.
I have to admit Witcher 2 combat was better. :P

combat stance or enhanced targeting (by wghost81) includes a toggleable setting for soft lock. I recommend keeping soft lock and tuning your prefered way of targeting enemies with ET mod.

You sir, are amazing. Thank you very much.

P.S Not sure why the devs didn't just make this an option in the settings, though.
Can you explain what the main difference is between this mod and the version of the game where the player simply does not enable target lock at all?
There are a lot of words written everywhere, but nothing is clear in essence.
