Game not working at all
Some years ago i bought the game after beating it with a friend, now i've decided to start a new run but the game wont even launch.

This is my pc:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: RTX3070
RAM: 32 Gb
Disk drive: Windows on an M2 the game running from a mechanical 7200RPM disk, the disk is flawless if checking at Crystal disk.

This is the only game i had trouble with in a long while and honestly dont know what to do, tried the following.

Deleting the game and resintaling

Running the windows SFC.

Updating GPU drivers to the most recent stable ones.

Reinstalled C++ redist.

deleted the witcher 3 folder from my documents

Deleted RED launcher folder from aap data.

tried opening the game from the exe file.

Honestly i dont know what else i can try.

That is a solid system, and you have already tried most of the common fixes. One thing to test is moving the game to your main SSD (M2 drive) instead of the mechanical one. The Witcher 3 can sometimes crash or fail to launch when running from a slower drive, even if the drive itself is fine.

Also check if any third-party overlays like MSI Afterburner, Rivatuner, or even GOG Galaxy are interfering. Try launching the game in clean boot mode (disabling all non-Microsoft startup apps and services) and see if it makes a difference.

If nothing works, try downloading the DirectX 11 version of the game (you can force it with launch options), as the DX12 version has had more launch problems lately.

I'll try moving it to an M2, is the Dx11 a completely diferent version? i tried setting it as Dx11 on the red launcher and also executing the Dx exe from the game folder

if the launcher does not appear try looking in folder
c:\users\yourWindowsLogin\appdata\local\programs\cd projekt red\redlauncher\logs
try REDlauncher.log but may be an error msg in the others

go to the steam game folder then the bin folder.

run x64/witcher3.exe for the dx11 version
run x64_dx12/witcher3.exe for the dx12 version
maybe the game works but just the launcher has issues.

It is not a separate version, just a different launch mode of the same game. If you already tried selecting DirectX 11 in the REDlauncher and launching the witcher3.exe (not the DX12 one), then you are doing it right.

To make sure it always launches in DX11, you can also add this to the launch options in Steam or GOG:

-dx11

That forces the game to use DirectX 11 every time, even if the launcher resets. Let us know if moving it to the M2 drive helps.

Moved the game to the M2 and it worked, thanks for the help
