Did you try the touch screen? On my Steam Deck I put one of the trackpads to do mouse controls, but the touch screen works, too. Sometimes the menus can be a little finnicky and you need to mouse select something. Could be especially true when opening up the keyboard to type something

Could be due to the ongoing issue with the game suddenly not working with Spectrum if that's your ISP.

Yeah, I used the touch screen, but the confirm and cancel buttons did nothing after typing it in. It's like the Steam input overlay wasn't working with the game.

I don't use Spectrum, but thanks for the suggestions.

I'm surprised this is listed as being Steam Deck verified.

Will give it another shot on Desktop. I'm so tired of half-baked releases.

For giggles I just re-named myself on Steam Deck and everything worked fine for me. Just used the dpad and A button. Keyboard came up fine. Everything works fine on the Deck which is why it's verified; probably half my hours are on the Deck.

Two things I've seen on the forums here, maybe it applies... make sure you aren't using any kind of potential blocked words (someone tried to use "heroines" and it blocked it for heroin, for example), and you cannot change your name if you put you are under 18 for some reason. That's why you see so many "Player17ep2p582027" usernames in game
