starting the game results in infinite pc restart
as topic

installed the game, start it up, then steam installs all those first time startup things, which is then followede by a windows warning that the pc will shut down in 60 seconds.

after restart, right after entering windows, it will again popup with shutdown in 60 seconds, and will loop infinitly, only way i managed to stop it, was boot up in safe mode, and completly delete Rooks Keep

i tried the demo yesterday, which had the exact same issue

help is appreciated

Thanks

edit--

saw this one on the offical forum

anyone?

For a Early acces game, its dissapointing to see zero support here -.-

I had exactly the same problem.

I solved it by managing to delete the Rook's Keep folder in Steam during the time between restarts.

That solved the problem.

I intended to create a thread about this issue but forgot all about it.

I thought my PC was ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Thankfully it wasn't.

Hope this helps.

At this point, I think the best cure would be to delete the "\Binaries\InstallData\dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe" file from your game folder.

Seeing as how none of the other solutions worked for you. :\

just tried deleting that file, started up the game, .NET still pops up, and unless i force quit it via task manager, the infinite restart starts.....

im guessing short of a complete reinstall of windows (which sometimes fixes the most wierd issues), there's nothing i can do to get this running..

Have you tried deleting the whole Rooks Keep folder? That worked for me.

you mean delete it on steam, and then redownload?, no, not yet, guess i'll try, only take me 5 minutes to download again

Nope, still the same issue, guess i got no choice than to abandon it for now, and try again after my next format, oh well, atleast its not a 60 euro game :csgogun:

No.

I mean go to Steam>SteamApps>common and delete the folder there.

Delete the Rooks Keep folder actually in your Steam installation on your hard drive.

I just right clicked and selected "Delete" and got rid of the whole Rooks Keep folder.

It worked for me. I was at a loss as to what else to do.

deleting the folder manually, or doing it via steam, amounts to the same, doing it on steam is just fewer clicks

but thanks for the suggestion

It didn't amount to the same for me as I couldn't get into Steam fast enough between restarts to actually delete the game/folder.

Luckily I have a shortcut on my desktop that takes me straight to Steam>SteamApps>common and I was able to delete it from there in time to stop yet another restart.

I'm sorry this hasn't worked for you.

ah, we're talking past each other, the restart loop was easy to get out of, just had to kill it via the NET setup exe in process manager.

i would love to play this, cause it looks interesting, /cry

Right.

I thought you were still stuck in the loop...

We were for a while but we are out of it now :)

so, BlackEagle, when can we expect this ''bugspray fix'' to this problem, that is mentioned in the FAQ?
Drenus 31 Jul, 2014 @ 7:25am
Also, for future reference, Format solved the problem for me, alto its quite a pain having to reformat just for 1 game
