Resolution:1920 * 1440 * 32
The game appears to launch at this res, but scaling is messed up and I only see a corner of the screen.
How do I make sure my scaling is on aspect ratio, as you instruct? Is this a setting of my TV/monitor, or something else? Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer help.
Not sure if you solved, but there should be a setting in nvidia settings. Not sure about amd. Also, you need to use whatever your screen resolution is in 4:3 aspect ratio. 1920x1080 would be 1440x1080
I'm on 2560x1440, so I use 1920x1440. Should have specified.
Is this something to do with the scaling? I looked into my nvidia settings it says it set to aspect ratio.
Hmm, I think when I was playing it I got black bars. Is it in fullscreen?
But it's fullscreen with no bars when I type in 1920 * 1080 * 32 on the game-file. And it looks okay. I can't tell wether it's stretched or not to be honest. So I guess I'll just play like that. :)
I cant stand stretch personally, but whatever works. :P
Then try editing the game file with the desired resolution as described in the original post above. Disabling the display scaling in graphics settings will cause it to place black bars to the left and right sides of a 16:9 TV/monitor in order to preserve the intended 4:3 aspect ratio.
Ignore this if you prefer the "stretch" to fill the entire screen. Personally, it bugs me to view anything in the wrong aspect ratio -- all the characters look short and fat and weird. :-)
I think I did try with "maintains display scaling" disabled. But not in that order by changing the ini-file afterwards. I'll give that a go.
"Overide the scaling mode set by games and programs," and you can check/uncheck it. I can't seem to find anything similar to "maintain display scaling" neither in nvidia's control panel or in the general display settings.
I used Controller Companion, it's available on Steam, really cheap and very easy to set up. Took me three minutes for a first set-up, two more to fine tune and it works great, no more need to use the keyboard. I mapped the left trigger to run (CTRL), right trigger to aim (right mouse), right bumper to inventory (F5), left bumper to ENTER (for saving games), the A button to action (left mouse), X button to reload (F9), B button to switch enemies (F7), Y button to switch aim bodypart (F8), D pad left to map/previous page (F2), D pad right to equip/next page (F1), D pad up to combine (F3), D pad down to exit inventory (F4) and the start button to exit (ESC). I didn't touch the left thumb stick since it works alright. In the game options I set the controls to joystick so the character moves relative to the camera instead of Resident Evil style tank controls.
