When trying to resolve a game issue, first try to search for related topics where a solution to your problem may have already been posted. If an old thread did not resolve your issue, then make a new thread rather than revive the old thread.

BattlEye is an Anti-Cheat service that scans the operating system for hacks similarly to an anti-virus, and if found blocks them from functioning or bans the user.

You are automatically prompted to install BattlEye upon first launching the game. If you choose not to use BattlEye you can set your server filters to "BattlEye Disabled" to find servers that do not require BattlEye, but if you join a "BattlEye Required" server you will be kicked.

Manual Installation, Uninstallation, and Reinstallation:

BattlEye can be manually installed by opening the Unturned folder, entering the BattlEye folder, and running Install_BattlEye.bat.

To uninstall BattlEye, open the Unturned folder, enter the BattlEye folder, and run Uninstall_BattlEye.bat.

Should I be worried about a false ban?

You should not be worried about false bans. Only installing cheat software will result in a ban. Modifying game files will NOT result in a ban.

In the event of a false positive BattlEye support[www.battleye.com] will review your case and unban you. BattlEye collects information that makes it fairly obvious as to whether or not a user actually cheated. Failure to use the form properly, such as using the wrong "Contact" form, may result in your appeal not being looked at.


Please refrain from using these forums for ban appeals. "False ban" threads, "second chance" threads, and any other such thread asking for a ban removal will typically be deleted or locked. All bans are distributed by third-parties, as opposed to the game developer directly.

VAC (Steam) bans:

VAC bans are permanent, controlled by Steam, are entirely automatic, and are not able to be appealed. These appear on your profile as a “VAC ban.”

Game (BattlEye) bans:

BattlEye bans appear on your profile as a “game ban.” These can be appealed via their appropriate Support contact form[www.battleye.com] if you did not cheat.

Server bans:

Server bans do not appear on your profile, and they are only seen when you attempt to join the server you are banned on. Contact the server’s staff, or the server owner, directly.


As an alternative to the community forum provided on Steam, players can also use the official SDG Forum[forum.smartlydressedgames.com] to provide feedback.

Unturned has an official Discord-partnered server[discordapp.com]! The Discord server is owned by the game developer, but it is ran entirely by community members. There are dedicated channels for discussion, advertisements, trading, memes, and suggestions.
