I am asking a legitimate question here. Why does this button even exist and what is its purpose?
and i gave a legitimate response, stop pressing the button, there is no need and i don't understand how you would even be hitting it in your normal pressings of keys...it should in no way interfere with your normal gameplay, you are making a mountain out of a molehill.
You are aware that there are a variety of Keyboards with different setups and players have the ability to rebind their keys?
For instance, on my keyboard the Insert button is on the Key Pad, number 4 to be exact. If I do not have num lock toggled on the Home, End, Pg Up, Pg Dn, Insert, etc keys can be used. I have also changed some of my keybinds so that similar or exact movements are shared between games.
Telling someone not to press it, while it would fix his problem, does not answer the question asked, nor does it provide any additional assistance because I am sure that OP has figured that out.
To answer OP's question: I have never experienced this issue previously but I wanted to see if I could give you some sort of answer. The first thing I checked was the Keybinds, to see if there was an indication to what it could be doing. No keybinds from what I could see which leaves me to believe it is a development/testing tool.
For instance, when I working on coding projects, for school or work, I have a few keybinds that let me quickly test my code, such as running it line by line(to see where errors are), or with or without debugging.
I can only assume that this button would perform the same function as logging out/in does, if you have the permissions in place to use them. This could be a simple button for Nelson to hit to check double check loot spawns, loot spawn placement on different items, etc. It seems it could be a glitch or mistake on Nelsons part but it would be nice to have that turned off if it truly serves no purpose.
Attempted using it to clear zombie bodies, blood stains, droped items, and refresh loot but it apparently does none of that.
It could also be an cache clearing function. Perhaps the idea is, if your game is running slower/poorly, you could hit that button, quickly reload the world, and be better off, though it is impossible to test that on my gaming computer.
I hope this information helps, please understand this is purly speculation and my thoughts.
You're saying I am making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I didn't even start making a problem of anything, so you couldn't even be any further from the truth.
Now this exceeded all of my expectations! Thank you!
Those are some very interesting theories, and the thought that it was a debug sort of button for Nelson did cross my mind, though I never thought about any specifics (like refreshing loot, flushing cache, etc).
You're right in the fact that probably only Nelson will really know. And I don't see him stumbling upon, and replying in, this topic any time soon...
Also, it's nice to see that it isn't just my setup... that maybe for some reason only on my computer Insert reloads the map.
I was referring to FuzzyK's post. Sorry for the miswording. Though I don't understand why your hand would be near the [INSERT] key. Please explain.
Since the question had nothing to do with "How can I stop pressing this" and focused on "What is this even for" it was not relevant information and as such, would not be included.
The point of this post by OP was to ask a question, recieve some answers to that question.
The point of my post was to explain that instead of going on about not pressing the button, or focus on the question at hand. Deviating from that breaks down the point of the OP's post, just like these explanations are. But I understand you thought on it, if it was an issue with pressing buttons and wanting to stop, it would have been relevant information.
