Broken Achievements Work Around
* Edit - This exact method no longer works, see below for another workaround by Larkin *

Three achievements were broken when the game was last updated in May 2016 (Jack of all trades, No pasaran! and Killing floor). To get these achievements you simply need to play the previous version and this is how you do it.

Open the Steam Console. To do this you paste steam://open/console in Windows Run Box (you can open this by holding down the windows key and pressing R).

Paste the following in the Console and hit enter:

download_depot 310510 310511 6213759715253176527

This will download the previous version. You can check the progress in Steam, Library, Downloads, the files are 3.9GB. Once they have finished downloading the Console will tell you the location, for me it was Steam\steamapps\content\app_310510\depot_310511.

Rename the last folder and call it Deathtrap. Your current Deathtrap folder is in Steam\steamapps\common. Rename this to something else and move the new Deathtrap folder to in here.

Finally, your current saved games are in Steam\userdata\[random numbers]\310510. Again rename this to something else.

Then just launch the game as usual from Steam and you'll see that the tower counter in achievements now works.

Once you have finished with the old version, delete the folders and change the names back on the original folders. I can finally 100% this game!

I am well aware that this is for skyrim, but works for DeathTrap none the less. Obviously the app id and so on you can take from the original console command:

Thanks your thread deserves to be pinned, but then again that would show that the devs cant even fix such a simple bug.

Cant fix. or dont give a ♥♥♥♥ enough TOO fix it. there's a difference :) since they cleary doesnt care about this game compared to the other games theyve made

And there other games don't seem to be doing that well. But that's what happens when you lose the vision of maximizing the consumer experience.

I have the same problem as you had first time with this method so how you make it work later? it seems that command not work every time? I copy "download_depot 310510 310511 6213759715253176527" in steam console and nothing is downloading at all.

Hi Ahiru. It doesn't show the game name in downloads like when you download a game the normal way, but you should see in the top left corner of downloads that there is activity i.e. the speed and how much has been downloaded so far.

I see now :) you are so helpful man. I see you already beat this game 100% GJ! I want to max this game too so badly cuz it's not a bad game after all.
It just need more attention and determination to complete :cozyvalkyr:

I think it's an excellent game, it's one of my favourite TDs. I wish they would do a sequel. I just don't understand why they won't fix 3 broken achievements. It doesn't do their reputation any good.

Anyway good luck with the rest of the achievements. Unfortunately the hardest part is getting Versus to work.

This worked for me and the 3 broken achievements. The download worked but it didn't show much updating as a normal download update...so be patient. I just turned on allowing downloads while playing and played a different game for a bit.

It doesn't seem to work in 2020. Console writes me this :

Depot download failed : Manifest not available

Hi Likalo. You're right, I've just tried it myself and I'm getting the same message. Doesn't look like it's just Deathtrap either, I've tried it on other games and it doesn't work.

I'll edit my first post to indicate this. Thanks for letting me know.

This works great. But, any idea what to do about the "Common cause
Form a party with 10 different players." achievement with this playerbase? This would be the only remaining achievement that I can't complete..
