Creative SB sound card issues
There are problems with the drivers for Creative SB sound cards, which can interfere with the game and prevent it from running properly.

Based on info from other games which have had this problem, the suggested fix is to try downloading the file linked below, and placing it in your Sovereignty folder.

To locate the folder:

Go to your steam library, locate Sovereignty in the list
Right click and choose "Properties"
Select the "Local Files" tab
Click on the "Browse Local Files" button

Yeah sorry - web host doesn't like executable files - I have put it into a zip file and updated the link accordingly, should work now.

The link is dead. is there anyway to host it again? I tried downloading OpenAL32.dll from another site, but when I start the game there is no sound. I'd appreciate if you fixed the dead link.

TBH this should just install with the game.... just dont have the game use it if it doesnt need too.

If OpenAL doesn't work, there's another alternative that was a dll for sounds from old games that solved it for me. It's indirectSound.
